Pirate101 Challenge #6: No Gear Upgrades

Ahoy Mateys!

I am finally back to making regular posts about Pirate101!  Yay!  This post is a continuation of the Pirate101 Challenges series.

The object of this sixth challenge is to make it as far as possible in the game without upgrading any of your gear, except your weapon. Continue reading for more information and rules.

Rules

  1. Start out playing Pirate101 without equipping any gear, just using your beginning stats.
  2. Continue playing through the game as far as possible with no new gear.
  3. Once you reach a point in the game where you cannot continue, you may equip level 5 gear and continue questing until you again cannot continue.  Then equip level 10 gear.  Continue this way until you finish the main story, trying to finish with the lowest level gear possible.
Tips and Tricks
  1. Use the gold you would normally spend on new gear to buy training tomes to keep your companions leveled up as much as possible.
  2. Use your practice points wisely!
  3. Pets can help out a lot!
  4. When you get to a point where you are ready for level 5 gear, find/farm for the best gear you can get for that level.
  5. In harder fights, keep your pirate back and let your companions do most of the fighting.
Exceptions
  1. You may equip a mount, pet, and weapon of your choice.
  2. You may upgrade your ship and ship equipment as needed.
Variations
  1. Equip (low level) gear only for the battles you are really stuck on and then try to proceed without the gear.
  2. Instead of not upgrading your gear, try to get as far as you can in the game with no weapon, following the rest of the rules outlined above.
  3. Try not upgrading both your gear and your weapon at the same time, following the rest of the rules outlined above.
So that's the sixth challenge.  Let me know if you decide to try it out! I would love to hear about your experiences with this (or any) challenges!  I will have another Pirate101 Challenge post for you soon, so be sure to watch for it! Until then have fun!

Winter Event Recap

Hey everyone!

I think I am finally ready to come back to blogging! I know I said that a couple weeks ago and haven't made a post since, but this time I mean it.  I actually plan to make another post or two this week to make up for the weeks I missed this month.

Anyway, I am making this post because I actually got in Wizard101 over the weekend for awhile!  Edward Lifegem from Around the Spiral with Edward Lifegem had an event to celebrate winter and to help bring the community together.

This was honestly one of the biggest events in game that I have been to in the last few years.  He had people meet up in the ice tower before porting to his house and so many people showed up that there was three areas! It was crazy!  And people kept showing up well past when the event started.

Once we ported to Ed's house, there was lots of PVP and just hanging out talking with friends.  I met some new people and added some I know from twitter.  I even tried PVP once.....and failed miserably! :P  But it was still a lot of fun.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.  Here are some pics I managed to get while I was there:
Me in the ice tower......5 hours early :P lol
Lots of people in area 1
Twin Autumns!
Dance line in area 2 :) There were also dance lines in areas 1 & 3 :)
Me and Ian Stormstaff
Awesome crowd of people watching pvp
Ian Stormstaff, me and Edward Lifegem
More pvp!
Thanks for the awesome event Edward!  It really was a great time! And if you missed it, don't worry! I'm sure if you watch Edward's blog you will see more events in the future. (At least I hope so!)  See you all soon and have fun!

2015 Review and New 2016 Goals

Happy New Year everyone!

I am finally back from a holiday break and ready to start blogging again!  I hope everyone had a great holiday season! I know I did :)  October 31st through December 31st is my absolute favorite time of year.  Anyway, I would like to take this first blog post of the year to review some of my blogging and in game highlights from 2015 as well as let you all know some goals I have for 2016.

2015 Review

  • Back at the end of July, I officially started blogging again!  And a couple months later, I was accepted back as an official Pirate101 fansite! Thanks Tom and Leala!
  • I hosted an awesome Pirate101 event with Edward Lifegem from ATSWEL.  It was so much fun and I cannot wait to have more events this year!
  • I got four of my wizards (balance, life, myth and ice) all to level 100 and actually finished the game up through Khrysalis on my life and balance (with Edward Firegem).
  • I quested on my lower level fire and death wizards and got them to Celestia.
  • Maxed out my Privateer and Buccaneer on Pirate101.
Goals for 2016
  • Host many more events, especially in Pirate101!
  • Start a new swashbuckler to blog about, using one of my Pirate101 Challenges.
  • Finish up all the side quests on my Privateer and Buccaneer.
  • Run through the major dungeons I haven't done yet in both games (Tower of Moo Manchu in P101 and Darkmoor in W101.)
  • Complete my treasure chest guides for Pirate101.
  • Quest in Polaris on my Balance and Fire wizards.  Possibly quest on some of my other wizards as well, if I have time.
I'm sure as the year goes on I will find more things to keep me busy in game, but these are my main goals of things to accomplish.  I am also going to try to make at least one post per week, hopefully two.  And plan on lots more events this year!  I am excited to have a full year back in the community and on my blog.

What are some gaming goals you have set for yourself for 2016? Comment below and let me know!  See you in the spiral!
