Taking the Spiral by Storm: The Pyramid of the Sun

Hey everyone!

Wow, I am on a roll with the posts lately!  I hope you all aren't getting tired of reading them.  I have been so busy with questing and want to keep my posts up to date, so I don't get too far behind and forget what happened while questing.

In my last post, Autumn Rain was ready to enter Krokotopia, having finished all her quests in Wizard City.  Ambrose had discovered that Malistaire was going there to track down the Order of the Fang.  I entered Krokotopia at level 17.5 and by the time I finished all the side quests I could access, I was ready to begin the main story quests at level 19.5.

The Royal Hall
My first task was to track down and obelisk that Professor Winthrop had just uncovered and take rubbings so he could read the inscriptions. The inscriptions detailed the Krokonomicon, which was a powerful book of magic.  To find out more about the Krokonomicon and the Order of the Fang, I needed to get an ancient tablet back from Biti Nirini by defeating him. This led Professor Winthrop to believe the Order of the Fang is still around and hiding somewhere.

Chamber of Fire
I headed to the Chamber of Fire to help Professor Danforth get into the Palace, where there is a Map Room that would help find out the location of the Order of the Fang.  There was a stone key that had been split into 2 pieces.  The first half was easy to recover by digging it up.  To obtain the second half, I needed to defeat the Nirini Qurtermaster and take the key from him.

Palace of Fire
Inside the Palace of Fire, I needed to help hold back the Kroks from escaping the pyramid and then defeat the four Nirini leaders so that the barrier into the Throne Room and Map Room would be broken.

Throne Room of Fire
Once inside the Throne Room of Fire, I met up with Professor Winthrop in the Map Room.  He told me we needed a powerful magical artifact, the serpent staff, to locate the Order of the Fang.  I had to defeat Prince Manu Nirini to get the staff.  Then we needed the Eye of the Krok, which had been stolen by Krokenkahmen. I defeated him and then we were ready to locate the Order of the Fang.

A note about the above image: No, I do not have Stormzilla yet.  That is a treasure card I received as a drop.  It was a huge help with defeating Krokenkahmen though!  Anyway, we found out the Order of the Fang is hiding out on the Krokosphinx, so that's where I am headed next.  I am currently level 22.  Being ahead level-wise is extremely helpful, because I can get better gear and have trained more spells.

I should have my next post in a few days, so be sure to watch for it!  Until then, have fun and thanks for reading!

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Wizard City Side Areas

Hello magical people!

When I last posted, I had just finished defeating Lord Nightshade and received the spiral key to Krokotopia so I could track down Malistaire and the Order of the Fang.  However, before I entered the new world, I wanted to finish up all the side quests in Wizard City.  I did many as I was questing, but quite a few kept opening up.  This post won't talk about all of them, but I did want to make a post about the major side areas in Wizard City.

Crab Alley
Sohomer Sunblade asked me to see what was going on with the storm mill's batteries in Crab Alley.  I went down into Crab Alley and found out that King Thermidor has been acting weird. He had locked up his adviser Thomas Cromshell and the riverclaws were taking over.  After some investigating, I found out the current king as actually an impostor.  After many battles, I managed to track down King Thermidor, fix the storm batteries and save Crab Alley!

Colossus Boulevard
After that, I found out that Gobblers had taken over Colossus Boulevard.  After fighting a few, I went to talk to Professor Greyrose who suggested a potion made out of stinkweed.  The potion didn't work, so I went to talk to the Gobbler King. He wanted to take over Wizard City, so I went to talk to Ambrose to get more suggestions.  After going back and defeating a bunch of gobblers to test their strength, Ambrose suggested defeating the Gobbler Kings closest advisers, Barons Greebly and Rotunda.  After that, the Gobbler King relented, but Ambrose agreed to let them keep Colossus Boulevard.

Sunken City
The last area I went to complete was a dungeon, and it was a little different, because I did not do it solo.  Since this is a hard dungeon for the level I was (14ish), I decided to bring along my life wizard.  Edward Lifegem also came along on his new wizard, Suri Skullshard, so he could get more xp for her.

Anyway, we had to help Marla Stinger prove to Cyrus Drake that Grubb actually exists and wasnt just a myth.  We fought a couple bosses and did a tower before we actually discovered and fought Grubb.  Since we had a level 120 life wizard with us, this actually went very quickly, but it was still a lot of fun!

So I finished every single side quest in Wizard City, except the fishing stuff, mainly because I need more gold to buy fishing spells.  I will be starting Krokotopia at level 17.5, so I will be very far ahead.  That should help my questing go faster.  Anyway, thanks for reading and I will be back in a couple days with a post about the first part of Krokotopia.  Have fun!

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Cyclops Lane

Hello!

Wow, I had a busy day questing yesterday!  I was online for about 10 hours finishing up all of Wizard City, including side quests.  It was so much fun to quest through these first areas again. Very nostalgic!  The first place I quested was Cyclops Lane.

When I arrived, I had to talk to Nolan Stormgate.  Apparently he decided I needed to prove myself to him by collecting a runed skull from the Dark Cave.  One fight with a haunted minion later, I reported back to him with the skull. Easy peasy.  Next, he told me there were some students missing.  My job was to fight some trolls to find information about where they may be.

After fighting the trolls, I obtained a letter from the cyclopes addressed to "M."  It said that the students had been kidnapped.  Nolan sent me to tell Professor Drake, who decided to send me to get his laundry.....and then sent me with a letter to Headmaster Ambrose saying I should be expelled! Luckily Ambrose didn't agree with him and came up with a plan to challenge General Akilles to get the students back.  First, I needed a pass from the warhorns.

It took several (about 12) tries and quiet a few fizzles, but I finally had the pass I needed.  Now it was time to face off against General Akilles.

After defeating Akilles, I back to Headmaster Ambrose, and he told me he thinks "M" is Malistaire.  He wants to find out what he is up to, but he needed some books from the library archives, and the key was being guarded by Foulgaze.  I headed out to defeat Foulgaze and get the key.

This battle was more difficult.  I actually had to do it twice, because I kept fizzling and died.  However, the second time I succeeded!  Next Ambrose sent me to Lord Nightshade, who he discovered was behind the attacks and working for Malisaire. My job was to defeat Nightshade and collect some books that had been stolen. Unlike the Foulgaze battle, this one went fairly smoothly since for once I didn't fizzle! Woohoo!

I brought the books back to Ambrose who told me to go to the waterfall behind the Rainbow Bridge.  There I found the missing Death school!  Anyway, Ambrose gave me the spiral door key for Krokotopia, where Malistaire was headed to find the Order of the Fang.  But before I went to Krokotopia, I had a few loose ends to tie up in Wizard City, which I will talk about in my next post.  Be sure to look for it at the end of the week!  Thanks for reading and have fun!

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Firecat Alley

Hello Young Wizards!

The last time I posted about Autumn Rain, she had just finished Triton Avenue.  Next up was Firecat Alley, where I talked to Private Quinn. He was worried because the fire elves he was supposed to meet with never showed up.

I headed into Firecat Alley and fought a bunch of fire elves.  Private Quinn was surprised when I reported back about how they were behaving.

He sent me to talk to Gretta, who said she could help out by making a potion.  I had to fight a bunch of magma men, skeletons and more elves to gather everything.  Lots and lots of fighting, but everything went well.....except the fizzling as always! :)

The last thing Gretta needed was hair from Bastilla Gravewynd.  This was a boss fight where I had to defeat Bastilla and a fire elf.  I took out the elf first and then attacked Bastilla with Storm Shark!  I also learned that Malistaire is behind cursing the elves as well.

Once Gretta made the potion, I had to give it to the fire elves.  This involved fighting them to get them to take the potion.  Then I had to fight their leader, Alican Swiftarrow.  This last battle wasn't too tough.  It was Alicane and a magma man.  I used lightning bats on the magma man and then storm shark on Alicane.  I think I had to use a couple wands after to completely defeat him, but it went smoothly.

So the fire elves are back to normal.  Next up is Cyclops Lane, which I will hopefully do this week and post about on Friday.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, but I got my first power pip while questing in Firecat Alley!  Hopefully I can get new gear soon that raises my accuracy and power pip chance.  That will make things go better, I think.  Anyway, until next time, have fun and thanks for reading! :)

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Triton Avenue

Hey guys!

As promised on Twitter, here is another magical wizarding post for you!  I haven't gotten too far with questing Autumn Rain, but much of that is because I have been running around doing side quests to help me level quicker so i can get gear with more accuracy.  Man, these fizzles are not fun!  However, that's okay, because just like all schools, storm does have its own benefits.....like being completely overpowered!

Last time I left off, I was getting ready to talk to Private Muldoon in Olde Town.  He had three separate quests for me and I chose to do the Triton Avenue quests first.  As instructed, I headed there to talk to Susie Gryphonbane.  Susie's brother was missing and she asked me to help find him.

I found his broken wand at the entrance to the Haunted Cave and brought it back to Susie.  She then asked me to talk to Duncan Grimwater to help find out what happened to her brother. Of course this led to fighting all sorts of things, like Fodders and Banshees. I also had to track down some lumina crystals......At least I think that's what they were called. I kind of forget. :D

All this eventually led to the revelation that Susie's bother had been taken by the Harvest Lord, who is working with none other than.......Malistaire!

Defeating the Harvest Lord and his minion wasn't too much trouble, beside the fizzles that I mentioned above. A couple lightning bats took care of him, no problem!  After I finished the main quests, I did the side quests, which led to fighting Kraken.  I wanted to mention this, because I remember spending so much time farming him and meeting new people right after I started playing back in 2010.  So I guess I'm being nostalgic, but those are some of my first memories from Wizard101.

Next up, I'm thinking I am going to tackle Firecat Alley.  I will post as soon as I get that done, hopefully this week.  Until then, have fun and thanks for reading! :)

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Unicorn Way

Hey everyone!

So I put it to a vote on Twitter, and it seems like many of you would like me to start blogging about Wizard101 again!  This means I will be updating my Wizard101 Guides section and updating you guys on the news, but I wanted to do something more as well.

I have been wanting to make a storm wizard, since that is the only school I haven't tried out yet. Plus, I just got the Storm Gulture mount a few weeks ago when I was opening some packs.  I figured now would be a great time to create her so I can blog about her adventures!

I was thinking about buying a level 50 elixir for her and starting out in Celestia, but it has been so long since I've played the beginning of the game, I kind of wanted to experience everything again.  So here she is, my new storm wizard, Autumn Rain! (Name chosen via Twitter poll. Thanks guys!)

I skipped the tutorial and jumped right into questing in Unicorn Way.  Apparently the undead were taking over and my help was needed to help clean the area up. Lots of fighting of Lost Souls and Skeletal Pirates (I think that was for a side quest) and I was finally directed to Lady Oriel in the Hedge Maze.

Lady Oriel wanted me to find out why some of her fairies had turned dark.  I defeated a few to collect fairy dust and this led to the discovery that they had been turned dark by something undead......DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!

So we finally discovered that the source for all the dark fairy turning was Rattlebones.  I went to his tower to defeat him.  This was a pretty scary fight.....I had to defeat him AND a dark fairy at the same time!  Okay, this actually wasn't too much trouble.....until my internet died. When I logged back in, I had died too.  So I healed up and went back in and defeated him, no problems this time.

So that was the end of Unicorn Way......or so I thought. My next quest was to head over to Olde Town and talk to Sergeant Muldoon.  Apparently he wanted me to prove myself before allowing me to help him, so he sent me back to Unicorn Way to defeat Lady Blackhope.  This battle went pretty smoothly too.....except for the fizzling! But in just a few rounds, her and her minion we dead.  So next I will be heading to Triton Avenue.  I will leave that for my next post.

Before I go though, I would like to share my initial thoughts about storm.  The pro is that even the starting spells are strong and usually enough to take out these early enemies in one hit.......when they work.  The biggest con here is fizzling.  I always joke and say I'm the fizzle queen, because I seem to fizzle on all of my other wizards more than normal.  However, I think my storm wizard will take this to a new extreme.  There were several fights already when I fizzled 3 or 4 times in a row.  I have even fizzled with Lightning Strike on, which adds 10% storm accuracy to my next storm spell.  So yeah, questing this character should be interesting!

Anyway, regardless of the fizzles, I had a lot of fun starting the game over with a new school.  I hope you all enjoy following me as I take the Spiral by storm! See you soon and thanks for reading!
