Today marked the end of my Talk Like a Pirate Day Pirate Joke contest.  I received A LOT of amazing entries.  Actually, I think I may have received more entries than any other contest I have had.  However, I had to choose only a few winners.  Many people sent in the same jokes, so the first and second prize winners were chosen from original entries.  Then the third prize winners were chosen randomly from the rest of the entries.  Here they are:

Skull Island Scavenger Hunt Review

Yesterday was the 12 days of Autumn Skull Island Scavenger Hunt.  It got off to a slightly rough start with a 10 minute delay, but I hope the people who stuck around had fun anyway!  Here is a list of the winners:

12 Days of Autumn Puzzle Hunt

Ahoy!

Day #9 of the 12 Days of Autumn brings another contest!  Today I have hidden 12 pieces of a puzzle around the blog.  All you have to do is find them all and assemble the puzzle.  Then you will be entered into a drawing to win one of three Li'l Labor Golem pets!

• Find all 12 pieces of the puzzle. They could be hidden anywhere on the site. However, none will be hidden on posts before the beginning of 2013.
• Assemble the puzzle. You can use either a graphics program or print the pieces, cut them out and send a picture of the completed puzzle.
• Email the assembled puzzle to secretsofthespiral@hotmail.com. Please include your pirate's name. Also put Puzzle Contest in the subject.
• All entries must be received by 9am EST on October 1st (tomorrow).

Skull Island Scavenger Hunt

Ahoy!

Today is day #8 of the 12 Days of Autumn celebration. It is also the day of the celebration I have been looking forward to the most.....The Skull Island Scavenger Hunt!

All around the world of Skull Island, there will be 8 pirates hidden in specific locations. When you find a pirate, they will give you a clue to the next location.  The first clue, which will lead to the first location in the scavenger hunt, will be announced at the bottom of this page at 6:00pm Eastern (the start of the scavenger hunt).

The first 3 people who reach the last location, and say the key words, will be awarded prizes as follows: 1st prize - Mount of choice & 3 Tribal Crew Packs, 2nd prize - Pet of choice & 3 Tribal Crew Packs, 3rd prize - 3 Tribal Crew Packs.

Here are the rules for this contest. Please read them all before participating.

• The event will begin at 6:00pm Eastern on September 29th
• The first seven locations will be in One Eyed Jack, area 1. The 8th will be in a mystery realm (see hints below).
• At each location, you will be given a clue that will tell you who to look for next, where they are hiding, and what to say when you get there.
• When you find one of the locations, you will not be given the next clue until you tell that person the key word or phrase given at the previous location.
• Please do not ask the people helping with this event for more hints. I am the only one who knows all the people helping out and all the locations.
• Please be patient. The people along the route will be busy giving out clues. Give them a few minutes to respond!
• Please be respectful to other people and have fun!

Here are a few hints to help you out:

• The last clue will give you a hint to a location and a realm. You will have to switch to the correct realm to complete the scavenger hunt.
• You will need access to all four skyways in Skull Island (Skull Island, Flotsam, Tradewinds, & Port Regal)
• All clues will be in text chat. I have already logged on and adjusted so that all words will be readable to text chat players.
• Sometimes the phrase you have to repeat is the clue to the next location.
• Hint 5 refers to a cannon somewhere in Port Regal Skyway

12 Days of Autumn Art Contest

Ahoy!

Today is the 7th Day of Autumn!  And to celebrate, let's have an art contest!  Everyone has a favorite thing about Pirate101, so show me yours! I would like you to use some form of art drawing, painting, sculpture, diorama, etc.) to create your favorite thing about Pirate101.  This could be anything: ships, a companion, housing.....Be creative!  Sorry, no graphics are allowed in this contest.  Here is how to enter:

• Create your favorite aspect of Pirate101 using any form of art. No graphics!
• Write 1 or 2 sentences about your project.
• Scan or take a picture of your creation and send it and the description to secretsofthespiral@hotmail.com
• Please include your pirate's name in the email and Art Contest in the subject.
• All entries must be received by October 3rd at 9am EST.
• If you are under 13 years old, please get your parent/guardian's permission before entering.

Trivia Contest

Today brings us to the halfway point of the 12 Days of Autumn Celebration!  It's going by fast!  I hope everyone has been having a good time with it.  I have been having fun at all the events and reading all of the amazing contest entries so far!

Anyway,  today I will be having a trivia contest.  Below you will find 12 Pirate101 trivia questions.  All you have to do is answer all 12 correctly and email your answers to secretsofthespiral@hotmail.com by 9am EST September 28th (tomorrow).  Please include your Pirate's name in the email and Trivia Contest in the subject line. *NOTE* If you are under 13 years old, please get a parent/guardian's permission before entering.

Caption This Photo Contest

We have made it to Day #4 of 12 Days of Autumn!  I hope everyone is enjoying all of the events and contests so far!  Today I have another contest for you guys.  This type of contest is my favorite type to judge!  What is it you ask? It's a Photo Caption contest!

Ahoy!

One-Eyed Shindig

Ahoy!

Ahoy!

Volunteers Wanted

Ahoy!

As some of you may have  heard, I have released the schedule of events for the 12 Days of Autumn Celebration.  If you would like to see it, you can view it here.  Anyway, I am looking for some volunteers to help with the Skull Island Scavenger Hunt.  I am hoping this event will be a lot of fun and unique, but I need some help to make it that way.  If you are interested, please read the requirements/guidelines below very carefully and then you can complete the form.  I will be contacting the volunteers a few days before the event with all the details.

Requirements

• Available Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 5:30pm eastern until 7:00pm eastern.  The ending time may vary, but I'm not expecting the event to last more than an hour. It may be much less than that.
• Able to be online uninterrupted, as you will need to give out your clue whenever someone finds you. This means you will have to be paying attention at all times.
• Have room on your account to make a new pirate and level it to level 2.  Please do not add anyone to your friends list before the event.
• Have access to the whole world of Skull Island, either through membership or crowns.
• Have either text chat or open chat, since you will be giving out clues to people.
• Be able to interact with other people in a nice/polite/family friendly manner.

So those are the requirements. A Family Affair

Ahoy Mateys!

My daughter is finally able to start questing again, which means the Autumn and Chloe posts will be starting up again! :)  But before I post about that I would like to introduce you to 2 new characters.  That's right....I said 2!  Only one of them is mine though.  The other belongs to my son. So now both of my kids are pirates! Yay! :D

This is Bloody Aedan Walker and Bloody Autumn Walker.  He chose the names, because he wanted us to match. lol  Anyway, they are both swashbucklers and we managed to quest through the jade amulet story line yesterday and got to level 4!  I won't be posting about all my adventures with Aedan, since I have a feeling we may be questing more quickly than I do with Chloe.  But I will be posting sometimes, and I have created a new label for those posts called "The A Team."

Anyway, after I finished questing with Aedan, Chloe wanted to quest too.  We had left off at the Ruined Lighthouse, trying to find an old grave.  We wondered around, looking at various tombstones, until we finally had to defeat Old Scratch and his crew.  It went well though and we got our Old Scratch companions after!

After that, it was off to Bounty Island, where we had to decipher Captain Gunn's notes to get to his treasure.....but it was gone!  After a battle with some crabs, we found out that Ratbeard and the watermoles stole the treasure and headed to the volcano!

Next time you see an Autumn and Chloe post, we should be tackling the Volcano!  I love that fight and I can't wait to post about it.  And we'll get another companion too! Thanks for reading and see you next time! Have fun in the spiral! :)

The Secrets of the Spiral 12 Days of Autumn celebration is coming up soon.  I have several autsome events planned for all of you (even some with prizes)!  Below you can see the details of each event.  I am hoping that by posting this early, people will be able to plan which events they want to make it to.  More information will be posted about each event on the morning it is scheduled for.

One-Eyed Shindig

Date:  Sunday, September 22, 2013

Time:  6:30pm Eastern

Where:  Skull Island, near the PvP houses, Bazaar, Kraken Skulls Tavern, Etc

Realm:  One-Eyed Jack area 1

Description:  Put on yer eye patch (if ye have one) and come help kick off 12 Days of Autumn with a huge party!  There will be trivia, a fashion contest, PvP, and of course, lots of hanging out with friends!  Prizes will be awarded for winning trivia and for the most Piratey outfit.

Strike Gold!

Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Time: 7:30pm Eastern

Where:  Meet in Avery's Court, then port to Friar Sand in Mooshu (add Autumn Walker)

Realm:  One-Eyed Jack area 1

Descrption:  Need gold?  Come farm Friar Sand and get lots o' loot! The more people who join a battle, the more gold ye get, so let's get lots of people together for a great time! He also drops pets and some decent gear.  Hope to see ya there! :)

Pirate Ship Parade

Date:  Thursday, September 26, 2013

Time:  7:00pm Eastern

Where:  Meet at the Skull Island Docks by the life fountain.

Realm: One-Eyed Jack area 1

Description:  Every pirate should be proud of his/her ship! Come show your's off at the 12 Days of Autumn Pirate Ship Parade!  We will be cruising around the whole world of Skull Island. There will also be ship related trivia with prizes awarded!

Skull Island Scavenger Hunt

Date: Sunday, September 29, 2013

Time: 6:00pm Eastern

Where:  Skull Island (world)

Realm: One-Eyed Jack area 1

Description:  Do ye like riddles and scavenger hunts?  This is the event for you!  There will be friends of Autumn's hidden around Skull Island giving out clues to each location.  Be the first to find all the locations and win a prize.  There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes awarded.

*Note* More details and rules will be posted on the morning of the Scavenger Hunt.

Get-A-Pet

Date: Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Time: 7:30pm Eastern

Where:  Meet up in Avery's Court and add Autumn Walker. Farming location TBA

Realm: One-Eyed Jack area 1

Description:  Join in for pet farming fun! Your feedback has been received and we will be farming Tyson in Cool Ranch for the amazing Armadillo pet! He also drops the Golden Stingtail and Tropical Sky Snake as well!

Going Out With a Bang!

Where: Meet in Avery's Court and then port to Achaean Way

Realm: One-Eyed Jack area 1

Description:  Let's end the 12 Days celebration with a big bang and sink some ships!  Come and help fight Captain Spartacos and the surrounding ships for lots of gold, NXP and hopefully some autsome drops!

So those are the events I have planned.  I hope there is something that everyone will like and be able to attend.  Most of these events are scheduled in the evening, due to people working and being in school.  The NXP event will start at 3pm, but will hopefully go for a long time so everyone who is interested will be able to make it.  I can't wait to see you all!  Thanks for reading! :)

September 2013 Pirate101 Newsletter

Ahoy!

Yesterday Pirate101 released their September 2013 newsletter.  Lots happened during the month of August, with four weeks of the Arrrgust celebrations and the release of henchmen!  The newsletter hints at more to come later in the year.  I wonder what surprises they have in store for us!

Announcing The 12 Days of Autumn!

Ahoy!

I know I have mentioned quite a few times that I am planning a huge surprise for the end of September.  Well guess what! I am finally going to announce it! Ready?

Starting on September 22nd (the first day of autumn) and ending on October 3rd Secrets of the Spiral will be having not one, not two, but TWELVE straight days of Pirate101 events. contests and most of all....FUN & AUTSOMENESS!

You may be wondering why I am announcing this 3 weeks early.  Well in the next couple days I want to post a schedule of the events I will be having so people can plan and hopefully be able to make it.  I will be posting only the events and not the contests though. Those will be posted later on.  So be sure to watch for the events schedule and other updates.
