The Two Musketeers: Turtle Balls

Ahoy!

The Two Musketeers (Autumn Walker and Edward Hawkins) are back!  This time were were off to Subata Skyway in Mooshu, trying to find Cao Tzu so that he could translate the pieces of Marco Pollo's map for us.

Cao Tzu resides in Maruzame, a castle/city that is on top of a giant turtle.  To summon the turtle, we needed to find all the turtle balls.  This quest brought us to all corners of Subata Skyway, as well as back to Khotan Skyway briefly.

Along the way we rescued the Monkey King, who then betrayed us and was eventually tamed and forced to serve in our crew.  We took control of a giant Robot and fought Stormzilla (pics above).  We crushed bad guys, blew up ships, and uncovered an impostor. All in a day's work! Because that is what pirates do, right?

After all that, we finally had all five turtle balls and were able to summon the giant turtle! Isn't he cute? :)

We headed on over, but before we could see Cao Tzu, we had to defeat the guardians in each of the five different temples: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.

I have to say, Mr. Hawkins and I make a great team!  We really didn't have much trouble with this world at all! And it went fairly quickly.  We made so much progress in just a couple days!  Anyway, after we defeated all the guardians, we were allowed to see Cao Tzu.  So that was it for Mooshu.  Next up is my absolute favorite world, Marleybone!  So exciting!

Just a quick note about this series of posts.  You may have noticed that this post wasn't as detailed about the storyline as my others.  I did this on purpose.  Since I am starting the game from the beginning with Merciless Jennifer, I have decided to just give quick recaps of each area in my musketeer posts and more detailed storyline posts for that other character.  I figure that will be less repetitive for all of you to read.

Anyway, look for my next post about our progress through Marleybone soon!  Thanks for reading! :)

Merciless Jennifer Part 3: A Fresh Start

Hey all!

So here it is, a new post about my Pirate101 Challenge pirate, Merciless Jennifer.  You can read about her adventures so far in this post here.  Long story short: She failed her first challenge with permadeath companions.  However, I did want to keep questing on her, so I decided to start over with a new challenge and let you guys vote on it.  The most popular choice was no leveling companions.

Since I had already leveled all my companions up to 5 or 6, I felt like it wouldn't be true to the challenge to continue with that character.  Since I hadn't made it very far on her, I decided to delete that character and start over.  I made a new witchdoctor with the same starting stats, flag, etc.  Then I started questing.

I didn't take many pictures of the Fin Dorsal quests, since it would be a repeat.  Plus, they were still pretty easy.  The biggest difference I am noticing now is that Kan Po (level 2) dies in pretty much every battle.

So that brings us to the search for Ratbeard and his crew members that he betrayed by poisoning.  I again started with Moe's quest.  He couldn't rest until we found the ring that he stole from his love Wilhelmina.  I found it and returned it to her, but she needed me to find Captain Gordon, who she wanted to marry. That led me and my crew to Buster Crab.

After I defeated Buster Crab, he still wasn't ready to let Captain Gordon go.  Finally he struck a deal with me that if I found the Gold Hook, he would trade Captain Gordon for it.  That brings us to where the first Merciless Jennifer met her demise, the Marie Celeste, a ghost ship.
During my first challenge, I made it through 3 fights before my companions were all dead.  This time......well I won't lie.......I had at least one companion die in each of the 5-6 battles. Usually it was Kan Po.  It still helps to use him though, because he usually lasts for 2 rounds, so he can deal some damage, as well as absorbing some of the damage me or my other companions would take.  The other cool thing is that since he is such a low level, I can just wait a minute or 2 between fights for him to revive and then continue on.

The last battle really gave me some trouble.  Me, Kan Po, and Mormo all died.  Bonnie was just barely alive when the battle ended.  It was tough, but we did make it through.  We got the Gold Hook and traded it for Captain Gordon.  Wilhelmina was happy she could get married and forgave Moe, so he is now at rest! One down, two more to go!

Before I go, I would like to mention a few things I am doing different this time around.  First, I am not recruiting side companions right away.  I am going to wait until I absolutely need a new, higher level companion to do those quests and recruit them.  Second, I am doing all the side quests I can find as soon as I get them.  This is helping to level me up quicker, so any companions I recruit will recruit at a higher level.  So right now, the only companions I have are: Kan Po (level 2), Bonnie Anne (level 3), and Mormo (level 5).  I have not recruited Grimtooth yet, but I may need to soon. We'll see.

Anyway, my next Merciless Jennifer post will hopefully be next week.  I have done all the side quests I can find, and she is almost level 8, so the next quest should allow her to level up.  Until then, thanks for reading! :)

Taking the Spiral by Storm: Unicorn Way

Hey everyone!

So I put it to a vote on Twitter, and it seems like many of you would like me to start blogging about Wizard101 again!  This means I will be updating my Wizard101 Guides section and updating you guys on the news, but I wanted to do something more as well.

I have been wanting to make a storm wizard, since that is the only school I haven't tried out yet. Plus, I just got the Storm Gulture mount a few weeks ago when I was opening some packs.  I figured now would be a great time to create her so I can blog about her adventures!

I was thinking about buying a level 50 elixir for her and starting out in Celestia, but it has been so long since I've played the beginning of the game, I kind of wanted to experience everything again.  So here she is, my new storm wizard, Autumn Rain! (Name chosen via Twitter poll. Thanks guys!)

I skipped the tutorial and jumped right into questing in Unicorn Way.  Apparently the undead were taking over and my help was needed to help clean the area up. Lots of fighting of Lost Souls and Skeletal Pirates (I think that was for a side quest) and I was finally directed to Lady Oriel in the Hedge Maze.

Lady Oriel wanted me to find out why some of her fairies had turned dark.  I defeated a few to collect fairy dust and this led to the discovery that they had been turned dark by something undead......DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!

So we finally discovered that the source for all the dark fairy turning was Rattlebones.  I went to his tower to defeat him.  This was a pretty scary fight.....I had to defeat him AND a dark fairy at the same time!  Okay, this actually wasn't too much trouble.....until my internet died. When I logged back in, I had died too.  So I healed up and went back in and defeated him, no problems this time.

So that was the end of Unicorn Way......or so I thought. My next quest was to head over to Olde Town and talk to Sergeant Muldoon.  Apparently he wanted me to prove myself before allowing me to help him, so he sent me back to Unicorn Way to defeat Lady Blackhope.  This battle went pretty smoothly too.....except for the fizzling! But in just a few rounds, her and her minion we dead.  So next I will be heading to Triton Avenue.  I will leave that for my next post.

Before I go though, I would like to share my initial thoughts about storm.  The pro is that even the starting spells are strong and usually enough to take out these early enemies in one hit.......when they work.  The biggest con here is fizzling.  I always joke and say I'm the fizzle queen, because I seem to fizzle on all of my other wizards more than normal.  However, I think my storm wizard will take this to a new extreme.  There were several fights already when I fizzled 3 or 4 times in a row.  I have even fizzled with Lightning Strike on, which adds 10% storm accuracy to my next storm spell.  So yeah, questing this character should be interesting!

Anyway, regardless of the fizzles, I had a lot of fun starting the game over with a new school.  I hope you all enjoy following me as I take the Spiral by storm! See you soon and thanks for reading!

The Two Musketeers: The Doctor and the Chicken

Ahoy Pirates!

I hope you all had a great week last week!  I actually had a lot of fun because Edward from ATSWEL and I had a chance to quest on our Musketeers, Edward Hawkins and Autumn Walker, in Pirate101 again!  Last time we quested, we were just about to fight Doctor Noh.  Did we succeed? Read on to find out!

So we headed out and sailed into the cotton candy vortex (as Edward calls it) and confronted Doctor Noh's ship.  We fought him and his minions and managed to capture him and bring him back to Egg Foo Yung.

After that, we headed Khotan.  This dungeon has quite a few fights in it, but none are too difficult (in my opinion) until the last one against General Tso.  For some reason, this is the only dungeon in the game (excluding Valencia part 2, which I have not yet completed), that I have never been able to solo.  I always get killed in that last battle.  I think this is in part because there are so many enemies and my companions always seem to focus their powers on General Tso, who is immune to everything.  However, I wouldn't change the difficulty of the dungeon, since a challenge is always fun!

Anyway, I got off topic there.  After several fights, and blowing up a building, (gotta love pirates), Edward and I did manage to threaten General Tso's chicken, which made him surrender. Go us! :)
After that dungeon, we found out that we had to go to Subata Skyway to find the turtle balls in order to summon the giant turtle. So that is where we headed next. And that is where I will leave this post.  We did get much further than this, but I don't want to make this post too long.  I will make another post in a few days about our adventures in Subata Skyway.

There are also a couple other things I would like to mention before I go.  First, Edward and I will be hosting an NXP event this Saturday, April 8th. You can read more about it here: Fansite Festival NXP Event. Also, look out for a new Merciless Jennifer post later this week.  Until then, thanks for reading and see you soon!
